Pipers River resident Denise Poder has met representatives from the George Town Council and Bass Liberal MHA Sarah Courtney to discuss her concerns about roads in rural areas of the region.
She said she held concerns for people's safety as most were in consistently poor condition. She said Industry Road at Pipers River was well-known for its potholes.
"Plenty of cars run off the roads, we get blown tyres," she said.
"We had our suspension renewed in October but we broke a part two weeks ago because the road is so rough."
She said it was also the aesthetic of the cars that suffered.
"It ruins our cars, we run a small business and people don't take us seriously," she said.
"Even washing your car is hard and getting out you get dirty mud on your trousers."
George Town mayor Bridget Archer said the council did what it could to ensure the safety of the roads.
She said gravel roads were not inherently dangerous and pointed out the funds the council had spent on replacing two bridges on Industry Road as well as intersections throughout the municipality.
"It's just a matter of keep plugging away at it," Cr Archer said.
"Short of federal funding, it's difficult to justify sealing the road.
"That's not to say there's not issues that need to be looked at but the priority needs to be black spots and intersections."
Ms Poder said she was determined to have all the roads sealed.
She said about 2½pages of petitions had been signed.
"This is for everybody who has to drive on these roads," she said.
"People don't seem to care, it's the same old, same old."
