Realising there were still voters in Tasmania he had not alienated, Senator Abetz followed this up by contradicting his leader and explaining the up-front doctor's fee was still Coalition policy. It seems the measure will not be put to the Senate, but special legislation will be passed to ensure no poor or sick Tasmanian escapes what amounts to a new tax.
