The Liberal government allocated $250,000 for the project in August's state Budget, but officially unveiled the plans on site last week.
It is expected to hold about 400 people and will be a multi-purpose facility.
Break O' Day Council said the project would boost sports participation in the region.
"On Wednesday 24 September state Liberal members for Lyons, Guy Barnett MP and Mark Shelton MP officially confirmed to the council and community of Break O'Day, the Liberal party's pre-election promise of a contribution of $250,000 towards the construction of an indoor ball court facility at the St Helens Sports Complex," a spokeswoman said.
"This facility will be expanding and enhancing the facilities already on the site and will lift the level of participation for all grades of competition in various sporting activities, hopefully attracting regional sporting competitions to the area, as well as enhancing on the health and well-being of the community.
"Plans for the site were viewed and discussed and comments made by some of the key stakeholders in relation to the consultation that has taken place."
Lyons MHA Mr Barnett praised the commitment.
No update has been given on when the project will commence.
