Westbury Rotary Club Fun Run and Walk committee chairman David Lee said the occasion was a popular event for the town.
‘‘We got about 350 last year that’s been pretty average for the past three or four years,’’ Mr Lee said.
‘‘Planning is going pretty well at the moment, we start getting ready about a month out — putting signs up, things like that.
‘‘We’ve got five signs up in Launceston, a couple here at Westbury and we’ve been advertising on the internet.’’
He said inquiries were already coming through and the group had received about 50 entries for the event on Sunday, September 14.
‘‘We give trophies to the first in all divisions, first junior boy and girl in the four and eight kilometre events, and the same with the seniors,’’ Mr Lee said.
‘‘The funds raised go to local charities.
‘‘We haven’t got a charity as yet but we’ll probably divide that up between two of three different ones that the Rotary Club supports.’’
He said random prizes would also be included in the event, with vouchers donated from many of the town’s businesses.
‘‘Our community gets well behind it,’’ Mr Lee said.
