The Babylonian king had his rules carved in stone, copied and spread throughout his kingdom some 300 years before Moses supposedly received the tablets from God.
What does that say about the veracity of the story?
I have read the Bible and am very much aware of the double standards and inconsistencies.
Of course, only the positive quotes are thrown at us.
The principles about which Mr Hawkins writes should simply be a part of common, human decency, and vast numbers of non-believers adhere to them without the need of an instruction manual.
At the same time, many evil, abhorrent acts have occurred, and are still occurring under the cloak of religion.
