Northern Midlands RSL sub- branch secretary Brian Harper said a surprise was brewing for the town's commemoration, which would see Anzac ties reunited with their shared New Zealand core.
Mr Harper said the first verse of the New Zealand national anthem would be sung at the town's services and that an announcement would today be made in regard to a Tasmanian first.
A media conference will be held at the town cenotaph, on Longford Village Green, from 10am.
Mr Harper said the Longford 11am ceremony would begin four minutes late, at 11.04am, to coincide with a City Park Radio transmission of the service, to be sent to 320 stations across Australia.
