36 - GREG L'ESTRANGE: The man brought in to revitalise Launceston timber company Gunns had to watch as the 141-year-old company disintegrated under a mountain of debt and fading hopes for its Bell Bay pulp mill project.
37 - MIRANDA GIBSON: The 30-year-old forest protester completed a year camped 60 metres up a gum tree in the Tyenna Valley in Tasmania's South-West and vowed to stay there until the forests peace agreement was completed. She is now the Australian tree sitting record-holder.
38 - ROBERT PENNICOTT: As Tasmania's nominee for 2012 Australian of the Year, tourism entrepreneur and high-profile boat operator Robert Pennicott admitted he was a long shot for the honour. He was up against Oscar- winning actor Geoffrey Rush who got the gong.
39 - SHANE GOULD: The 1972 Olympic swimming champion said graduating from the University of Tasmania was on a par with winning a gold medal. Bicheno's famous resident graduated with a masters in contemporary arts (visual arts).
40 - JACK RIEWOLDT: A season tally of 65 was enough for the former Clarence spearhead to claim his second Coleman medal in six AFL seasons with Richmond. It wasn't his best year but he had some big bags during the season.
