A spokesperson for police said the body was recovered at MacKenzies beach, Doctors Rocks, and is believed to be the 22-year-old woman who went missing from Somerset beach two weeks ago.
They said the body will be formally identified in due course.
"Our thoughts are with the woman's family and loved ones."
The woman was swimming with her 26-year-old sister and nine-year-old brother on the beach near the Somerset surf club on Saturday, November 11, when they all became caught in a strong current.
At the time Inspector Adrian Shadbolt said her siblings were able to free themselves from the rip, but she disappeared and despite extensive air and sea searches in the following days, she could not be found.
