Their campaign starts with an away clash against Perth Wildcats on Friday.
"I don't know where he is at to this point but he is a few weeks away," Roth said.
The coach said the group was otherwise healthy ahead of game one.
He's not reading into their undefeated run at the NBL pre-season Blitz tournament.
"The Blitz is really smoke and mirrors at the end of the day," he said.
"You can walk out of there and not be as good as you think you are and not as bad as you think you are. It's a little bit of fool's gold when you go there.
"For us, it was about building chemistry and incorporating the guys we've just (recruited)."
He said the tournament was the new-look team's first time on the road.
"The results were the results and we know we have a tremendous amount of work ahead of us," he said.
"We are very much an unfinished product at this point and we will see how it goes."
There's hype surrounding the Wildcats' Next Star recruit Alexandre Sarr and Roth is expecting to encounter a high-powered offence.
Marcus Lee, Anthony Drmic, Jordon Crawford, Junior Madut, Majok Deng, Majok Majok as well as Tasmanians Lachlan Barker and Jacob Richards are among the JackJumpers' new faces this season.
Other Tasmanians in this year's NBL competition include Tanner Krebs (Melbourne United), Taran Armstrong (Cairns Taipans) and Gabe Hadley (Brisbane Bullets).
