Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will announce the funding commitment in Launceston this afternoon.
Stage one of the redevelopment is expected to be completed in early 2025 and planning will now start for its second stage.
Mr Albanese said the stadium's redevelopment would revitalise the Launceston region.
"My government wants to realise a whole-of-state vision, one that will strengthen Tasmania's economy, create jobs and provide better facilities for people to enjoy," he said.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff said the state government's investment would deliver a new and enhanced eastern stand, improved playing facilities and a new entertainment precinct.
"This will ensure UTAS Stadium is future-proofed and able to deliver economic benefits for the region across the long term," he said.
