The Blues were made to work for the lead as Clarence got off to a fast start at Windsor Park with the opening two goals of the game.
Launceston's spearhead Jake Hinds provided the spark for the home side before putting on a show for the rest of the afternoon with a strong showing and six goals to his name.
While Clarence held a slender one point lead at the first break, once the Blues retook the lead via Jackson Thurlow's first goal of the match, the reigning premiers never relented.
The third term was a tense affair as the ball found a home in between the arcs as both sides battled for shots at goal. Hinds added one for the home side in the opening minute but it took over 20 minutes of play before Clarence notched one of their own in a dour term.
The third term was not without its moments as Michael Musicka appeared to collect James Bealey with a late bump that resulted in a scuffle.
The former was also involved in a head clash with Jay Blackberry but both players returned to the game after being assessed.
Alec Wright was peerless in his intercepting role off half-back in collaboration with Jamieson House as the Blues repelled the Roos' attacks to ensure a match-winning buffer heading into the final term.
Not content with resting on their laurels, the Blues added seven goals to none in the final term with a flood of inside-50s to ensure they would notch their fifth win of the year.
In the league's other Saturday encounter, Kingborough ran riot over Glenorchy 19.17 (131) to 3.5 (23) at KGV Oval.
Tyler Carter, Jordan Lane and Ben Donnelly added four goals apiece in the 108-point win for the Tigers.
