A fourth dose of the COVID-19 will become available for some Tasmanians from next month, the Tasmanian Government has announced.

Deputy Premier Jeremy Rockliff said people aged 65-years-old and older, residents in aged care or disability care facilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 and over, and severely immuno-compromised people over 16-years-old will be eligible for the "winter booster".
Mr Rockliff said this decision followed new advice issued from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI).
Pharmacies will also be able to apply to be able to administer vaccines to children aged five years or older.
Currently, participating pharmacies in Tasmania are able to administer the dose to people aged 12-years or over.
State Health Commander Kathrine Morgan-Wicks said this change was not a "blanket approval" for all pharmacies, with specific conditions attached to to be eligible.
"It will be an opt-in process," Ms Morgan-Wicks said.
For the state's case numbers, 1786 cases were reported in the last 24 hours, with the Department of Health reporting that eight hospital patients are being treated specifically for COVID-19 symptoms.
They said 16 COVID-19 positive cases were being treated for unrelated medical conditions.
