Deloraine will likely debut some of its new players when it takes on South Launceston at Youngtown Memorial Oval.
George Town has reason to be excited as well with Tat Lee and Cara Digney back in the mix this year.
The Saints host Longford, a team which expanded its depth significantly during pre-season.
Evandale and Meander Valley have a bye to start.
The Eagles' first match will be against Deloraine on April 9, while the Suns will play George Town at home that day.
Bulldogs coach Kate Child is back on-field this season and Candice Akister (Evandale) and Cloe Cresswell (Meander Valley) are also returning.
The Bulldogs (seventh) and Saints (eighth) were the most competitive of the group in the 12-team competition last year.
It's the first year of promotion and regulation with six teams each in premier and division one.
Longford mentor Michael Boyack spoke positively of how the club had grown its playing list during summer.
It's a great sign for the competition after the Tigers didn't register a win last year.
Evandale
Coach: Andrew Boyd
Captain: Georgia Rowley

Outs: Kia Rogers, Jackie Harvey, Shannon Crawford, Emma Groves (Meander Valley)
Coach's comment: "We started off with a couple of practice matches, in the first one they played really well and got the win but more exciting was the way the team gelled together in its first time out on the ground with the new players.
"The group is quite excited about where we could end up this year."
Deloraine
Coach: Brad Powe
Captain: Renee Walker
Ins: Leah Bryan (Meander Valley), Breanna Miller, Holly Larcombe, Sarah Larcombe, Jacinta Fialho, Rori Williams, Ella Mclennan (all new)
Outs: Tayla Smith (knee injury), Taleah O'Garey
Coach's comment: "With a relatively inexperienced side because we've got a lot of new faces, (our hope) is just to gradually improve each week.
"We had a practice game last week and there was some exciting new faces, we've just got to get some game time into them and get them used to the actual game of footy.
"I suppose the biggest thing is to see some growth by the end of the year and continue to develop a long-term plan of sustainability for the team."
Longford
Coach: Michael Boyack
Co-captains: Alanah Boyack and Jade Nichols
Ins: Have kept about 13 of last year's playing group of 16-18 players. This year the club has grown its list to 28 in its second year in the women's competition.
Coach's comment: "We want to build on our first season and hopefully and get some success this year. We've got the girls there and they're all keen.
"Our focus is to keep improving and if a win comes our way that's a huge bonus. The main thing is just keep building the side with it being our second year in the competition."
Meander Valley Suns
Coach: Kate Bowland
Captain: Charlotte How
Ins: Cleo Cresswell (returning), Kia Rogers, Jackie Harvey, Shannon Crawford, Emma Groves (all Evandale)
Outs: Abbey Bellchambers (pregnant), Rebecca Hearps (interstate)
Coach's comment: "Our women's team is looking strong this year. And we've been able to recruit well, with four experienced players signing up, as well as some new talent.
"It's been a really huge step forward for the side.
"The split divisions this season will allow for more even matches and I believe our women have what it takes to step up into the premier division next season.
"They are all very excited to start playing and see how their hard work has paid off over pre-season."
South Launceston
Coach: Kate Child
Captain: Hayley Breward
Ins: Kate Child (pregnancy), Ang Mayne (touch footy), Ruby Lanham (Penguin), Holly Flint
Outs: Abi Dean (retirement), Izzy Duniam
Coach's comment: "We just want to stay strong and united as a team and hopefully get the best out of the girls this year.
"We're hoping for a premiership, we're playing div one.
"We've kept our core group of girls which has been probably the biggest thing out of the season."
George Town
Co-coaches: Dave Marshall and Jodie Clifford
Co-captains: Jayde Barrenger, Tyeisha Hinds, Jasmine Digney, Tamara Burt (four member leadership team instead of a captain)
Ins: Tat Lee (returning), Cara Digney (pregnancy)
Coach's comment: "Since we've been split into two divisions, we're hoping that the success we had last year, with the amount of wins, that we'll be up near the top part of the group.
"And having Jodie Clifford as a co-coach, her experience and the way she is with the women - it's really exciting to actually coach with her." - Dave Marshall
