Burnie brothers Tre and Taran Armstrong have been key to their college side's victorious start to the season with the former starring off the bench while the latter is a fixture in the starting five.
Younger brother Taran's performances have turned heads across the conference with two WAC men's basketball freshman of the week awards from seven games.
Taran averaged 16.7 points per game with eight rebounds per game and 9.7 assists per game to scoop the freshman of the week award for the second time and leads CBU overall for points per game this season.
In a tight game against San Jose State earlier this season, the 19-year-old proved the much-needed spark for CBU by recording the program's first triple-double with 16 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds.
Importantly, the Australian under-19s World Cup representative proved clutch when the heat was on as he sunk a pair of free-throws in the dying seconds of the game to hand CBU their fourth victory of the season.
Described as one of the "best passers" in the conference, the freshman guard's performances have drawn the eye of coach Rick Croy.
"In our program, it's all about trying to help a guy grow as a leader and [Taran] came here as a very accomplished leader, he's got great experiences, he's been raised by an amazing family, he's got a great big brother here," he said on Fox Sports AM.
"I never really had a vision for what it would look like other than as a freshman does he have the toughness and the leadership to be able to step in from day one and do it right away, he answered that from day one."
Facing a North Colorado team which is renowned for a "veteran approach" and prolific scoring, Tre Armstrong starred with 11 points, five of six from the floor and five rebounds.
Considering all his points came off the bench in the second-half, the 21-year-old's performance was a key factor as CBU wrestled win number five from their more fancied opponent.
"Tre was ready to go this year, he had a tremendous off-season back home and he's really coming into his own as a leader, he's a special leader in our program," Croy said on Fox Sports AM.
"Loves to compete, loves to win, loves being in a locker room, he understands the moment, he understands these are precious times and he's so present and I am so proud of him and the development in his game, he's just getting better and better."
