Tasmania JackJumpers set for Launceston NBL Blitz against Taipans

The mantra from coach Scott Roth and co has been on giving all players court time, including having key big men Will Magnay and MiKyle McIntosh lace-up after injury-interrupted pre-seasons.

New JackJumpers' captain Clint Steindl said the playing group was excited to have the roster healthy and on-court.

"Especially with those two guys are big pieces of what we're doing so to have them healthy and back on the floor even in limited minutes Will played [Sunday] you can see the impact he has on the game," he said.

The JackJumpers' towering duo will be in play when they take the court in Ulverstone on Wednesday against Perth before turning their attention to the Cairns Taipans on Friday.

The Ulverstone match-up will be a chance for Steindl to play against his former teammates after the former Wildcat helped claim two league titles and a most improved player award in his time with the franchise.

The JackJumpers have endured a mixed bag during the Blitz with two losses and a win from three attempts.

"Wins and losses don't really matter so much at the moment a lot of the focus is on things we are trying to incorporate as a team into our systems to prepare us for the regular season," Steindl said.

"Obviously you want to try and win every game but at stages we're incorporating different line-ups, we're bringing guys back from injury and getting them settled into the teams so there's a lot of different variables.

"There's so much we need more to getting the things going that we need right now before the regular season kicks-off."

However, many teams find themselves in a similar position to the NBL's newest franchise as they tune-up and test out new tactics ahead of the proper season start in December.

Which explains why the JackJumpers have been preaching an internal focus despite the on-court results to start the tournament.

"It's tough to gauge I mean many teams aren't playing their full roster, they may bring some guys in for half a game and then play it out with some younger guys so it's hard to tell," Steindl said.

"A lot of scouting has been done in terms of what systems teams are running and what is in place obviously with a number of new coaches and personnel in the league but there hasn't been too much focus on other teams."

Steindl said the locker room had appreciated the show of support from the fanbase which has seen packed venues in all of the JackJumpers' Blitz fixtures to date.

"It just goes to show that they've been hanging out for a team and they're willing to support a basketball team here, they're ready to go and we're ready to go," he said.

"The next step is to give them something that they're going to be proud of."
