A 29-year-old Smithton man has lost his licence for 12 months after being charged with driving while allegedly three times over the legal alcohol limit.

Tasmania Police said they intercepted the man on Nelson Street at Smithton at about 11.40pm last night for a random breath test.
Upon returning a positive alcohol test, he was transported to the Smithton Police Station.
"A further breath analysis revealed his reading to be 0.152, three times the legal limit," Police said.
"The man was charged with exceed 0.05 and was immediately disqualified from driving for 12 months."
