The new Melbourne franchise doubled the venue's A-League content in the space of six days in April when it hosted a 1-0 win over Central Coast Mariners and 1-1 draw with Wellington Phoenix.
COVID-restricted crowds of 3203 and 2528 watched the contests but figures of 5268 and 6238 were recorded when the competition last graced the city nearly a decade ago as Melbourne Victory drew against Gold Coast United and the Mariners.
A series of pre-season friendlies dating back to 2006 had pushed attendances beyond 8000 and organisers will be hoping similar figures can be recorded in the upcoming season.
United has confirmed it will stage two matches at UTAS Stadium as part of a partnership with Football Tasmania and the Tasmanian State Government.
The dates and opposition are yet to be locked in although United do know their first six fixtures which begin with a derby against Melbourne Victory in Geelong on Saturday, November 20.
Now coached by Socceroos' World Cup hero John Aloisi, the team will also return to Ballarat and has added Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park to its home-ground roster for the campaign.
Seven home matches will be played at the venue, which was selected by a rigorous search for the best solution after cross-city rivals Victory and City opposed United continuing to use AAMI Park.

United chief executive Chris Pehlivanis said the club's long-term solution will be the Wyndham City Stadium which is currently under construction but is delighted to bring the game to Tasmania in the mean time.
"Ultimately we're here to promote the game and grow participation and a fan base and if we can play a role in Tasmania getting a team then we will," he said in April.
Having finished fifth in 2019, United missed out on finals last season, coming 10th of the 12 teams.
In July, the club announced the appointment of head coach Aloisi as a replacement for Mark Rudan.
