1. Junction Festival
September 1-5
After last year's postponement, the long-awaited 10th anniversary of the Junction Arts Festival is here. The much-loved arts festival was replaced by Junction Hometown in November last year to meet COVID-19 regulations. 2. Harvest Market
September 4, 8.30am-12.30pm, Free
Every Saturday the award-winning Harvest Market takes over the Cimitiere Street parking area to share fresh food and produce. Discover a wide range of vendors and local brands to support.
3. Launceston Planetarium
September 4, 2pm-2.45pm
We are Stars will show at the planetarium this Saturday. The program, produced in the United Kingdom, takes a light-hearted look at the way stars burn to produce the range of elements we are familiar with.
4. Sporty weekend
September 4 and 5
Arch-rivals Cavaliers and the Northern Hawks face off for bragging rights in the Tasmania Netball League grand final on Saturday at the Silverdome. Grand final fever also hits local footy with Launceston and Old Launcestonians facing off for the NTFAW grand final at Windsor Park, which also hosts the much anticipated Division one grand final between Lillydale and Old Launcestonians in the afternoon clash on Saturday. The NTFA premier division has reached the preliminary final stage for Longford and Bracknell, who will do battle at Deloraine on Saturday. The TSL action continues with Launceston hosting Clarence at their Windsor Park fortress for the right to earn a grand final berth.
5. Father's Day
September 5
Plenty of events are on to celebrate Father's Day. However, on September 4, Richardson's Harley Davidson and the House of Motorcycles will hold a Father's Day event also. The family-friendly event includes free activities such as face painting, a jumping castle, BBQ, specials in-store, lucky door prizes, photo opportunities, and draws to win voucher prizes. The event will be held at 468 Westbury Road, Prospect, from 10am-2pm.
6. Talent Quest
September 9 and 16 for auditions, September 23 for final
St Helens RSL is hosting a talent competition in September with a total prize pool of $1500. The first prize will take out $1000 of the money. There will be 30 spots available for auditions. Auditions are open to any form of talent including singing, dancing, comedy, and more. The local community will be invited to attend the audition evenings which will start from 6pm.
