1. Open House

Take a stroll through some of Launceston's most iconic buildings and explore areas you may never have seen before and may not get to see again. Open House has launched its third program as part of the City of Launceston's Places of Launceston event. The architecture and design event will consist of 27 buildings, activities and walking tours across Launceston, and beyond, that the community can discover during a one-day experience. Some of the places to choose from in the program include the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery archives, Chalmer's Church, the Forster Street Pump Station, the Supreme Court, Stillwater Seven, Design Tasmania, Stoney Rise, the Tasmanian House, Hatherley House Development and the Umbrella Shop. 2. Footy Fever
August 28 and 29
Tasmanians will get to witness live AFL finals action for the first time ever after it was announced UTAS Stadium will host two elimination finals this weekend. The decision means that the Sydney Swans and GWS Giants will face-off at UTAS Stadium on Saturday before the Western Bulldogs and Essendon do battle on Sunday in a do-or-die clash. For those lucky enough to snag tickets, they will also experience live music at the games.
3. Harvest Market
August 28, 8.30am-12.30pm, Free
Every Saturday the award-winning Harvest Launceston takes over the Cimitiere Street parking area to share fresh food and produce. Discover a wide range of vendors and local brands to support. DJ Grinning Cat and Meg & Sophie will be providing some Saturday morning tunes. The market is now gearing up for the spring months.
4. Junction Festival
September 1-5
After last year's postponement, the program for the long-awaited 10th anniversary Junction Arts Festival has been announced. The much loved arts festival was replaced by Junction Hometown in November last year to meet COVID-19 regulations. Set to return this year from September 1 to 5, the event has come a long way since its inception in 2010. The program is full, with something for everyone on the event list. 5. Talent Quest
September 2, 9 and 16 for auditions, September 23 for final
St Helens RSL are hosting a talent competition in September with a total prize pool of $1500. First prize will take out $1000 of that money. There will be 30 spots available for auditions. Auditions are open to any form of talent including singing, dancing, comedy, and more. The local community will be invited to attend the audition evenings which will start from 6pm, onwards.
