City captain Jarrod Linger said the team was delighted to be hitting its straps and recording a rare win on the artificial Warrior Park.

"We have not won down there for a while so it's really good to come away with the three points," he said.

"We're pretty good at home but don't travel too well and that's an old astroturf hockey pitch which is not really what we're used to up in Launceston.

"They came at us strong towards the end but we defended well and the side is really starting to gel and work for each other."

RIVERSIDE completed a winless home season with a 3-0 loss to high-flying Glenorchy.

Sunk by three first-half strikes, Olympic had the consolation of a rare second-half clean sheet and the return of popular Argentine Luca Vigilante, albeit for his last appearance at Windsor Park.

"We were certainly a lot better in the second half than in the past when we've been down so we'll take a positive out of that," Gaetani said.

"At half-time we talked about keeping it simple, reducing turnovers and being solid. Bearing in mind we had four players out of the starting line-up, it's not a bad result."

Devonport maintained momentum at the top with a 7-0 defeat of Clarence while South Hobart squeezed home 2-1 against Kingborough.

LAUNCESTON UNITED co-coach Frank Compton was not making any excuses after his side lost 3-1 at Birch Avenue to Kingborough.

Dani Gunton headed United's goal from an Annie Reitsema corner but, in the words of Compton, "that was as good as it got" for the home side.

"We got outmanouvred," he added. "Kingborough were a bit quicker and hungrier, particularly in the second half, and probably deserved the victory."

United's major positive was getting the invaluable Madi Gilpin back from the broken wrist sustained in the cup final.

"We played her in a midfield holding role and it wasn't long before she was up to her usual tricks and very influential," Compton said.

"Win, draw or lose, the plan was to not play her for the whole game and she would have benefitted from that."

Clarence wrapped up the title with a 2-1 win at Devonport.

RVERSIDE produced one of its best performances of the season to beat Somerset 5-3, aided by the league leaders finishing the game with nine men.

Olympic twice led through Rhys Kinslow and Liam Poulson only for James Nettleton and Kyle Best to hit equalisers before a double substitution proved pivotal.

Daniel Shaw headed in a beauty minutes after coming on then fellow sub Riley Wakeford earned a penalty, which Poulson converted and scored the fifth, selflessly laid on by Rohan Fenner, after Kaimon Johnson had pulled another back for the Sharks.

"I'm really happy for the boys," said Olympic coach Joe Evans. "That was probably our most complete game, we know we can mix it with the best, and it was an inspired substitution by our coach."

NORTHERN RANGERS put LAUNCESTON CITY to the sword with a 7-0 win at the NTCA Ground.

Angelo Amato and Lochie Dean claimed two apiece with Wes Chugg, Bryley Jordan and an own goal completing the scoring.

City coach Justin Dyer reported "a really tough day at the office".

"They played well and finished well," he added. "Injuries have taken their toll on us."

LAUNCESTON UNITED and Ulverstone drew 0-0 while Devonport Strikers beat Burnie United 4-1.

In the women's competition, NORTHERN RANGERS recorded a 13^th win from 16 games with a 5-0 success at home to LAUNCESTON CITY.

Febey Chugg and Moana Chamberlin scored two goals each with Liyana Juraimi adding the fifth for Stephen Pearce's side.

City coach Barry Baker said, despite the result, his side continues to develop and make progress.

Golden boot leader Meg Connolly claimed another six goals as RIVERSIDE trounced Somerset 9-0. Millie Hanson (two) and Mia Finlay completed the rout to the delight of coach Jo Haezebrouck.

"It was good preparation for the Ulverstone game next week," he said.

"A bit more relaxed and enjoyable."

LAUNCESTON UNITED put up a valiant effort against runaway leader Ulverstone but lost 3-6.

Burnie United edged the Noprth-West derby at Valley Road 2-1 against Devonport Strikers.
