With leading vote-getter Jay Foon's North Launceston sitting out the bye, cross-town namesake Jay Blackberry seized the opportunity to add to his individual accolades.
As the veteran midfielder overtakes another Jaye - Bowden of Glenorchy - to become the State League's leading appearance-maker with 213, his best-on-ground performance in the Blues' 113-point win against Bowden's old side cemented the player of the year award's status as an all-Northern four-horse race.
Leapfrogging teammate and early pace-setter Jake Hinds, the ageless Blackberry moved into second place on 14 votes, just two behind Foon, having also kicked a couple of Launceston's 22 goals at KGV.
Three goals apiece helped Jobi Harper and Cody Thorp also pick up votes.
Another five-goal bag wasn't enough to see Dylan Riley improve on his nine votes for the season, but took the tattooed talisman beyond the 50-mark and a massive 32 clear of the next best, Tigers' Tyler Carter.
The Development League's goal-kicking is also dominated by the Blues with Arie Schoenmaker (29), Cooper Warren (27) and Johnathan Marsden (20) leading the way.
A year after meeting in the TSL grand final, the Northern rivals again sit top of the ladder with the Blues on 9-1 and Bombers 8-2.
