Kane Leary tributes flow after Newnham motorcycle crash

Kane Leary, 17, had his life support turned off late on Sunday night, several days after he was involved in the crash on Tompsons Lane, according to Tasmania Police.

Tributes flowed for Kane on social media, with one friend saying he "lived every moment and made the most of it", and another describing him as a "lil soldier" with "definitely his own character with one of the biggest hearts I am proud to say I knew".

His sister Christine-lee Henderson, who launched a GoFundMe to support the family in the coming weeks, wrote that their mother was "absolutely heartbroken".

"Everyone that knew Kane loved him he was so special to everyone, he was one in a million and never let anything in life get to him," she wrote.

"Kane went through more in life than any child ever deserves but despite everything he got through it all and fought so so hard and overcome all his battles.

"He lived life to the fullest and had a heart of gold his memory will live on with us and he has left such an impact on everyone."

The family is continuing funeral preparations.

The other boy, aged 16, remains in Launceston General Hospital in a stable condition.
