A Tasmania Fire Service spokesman confirmed four units responded to reports of a burning smell at the school about 2.15pm.
A classroom was evacuated as a precaution, with the incident later downgraded.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The spokesman said the incident involved a light ballast - a feature of many florescent lamps that regulates current.
A Health Department spokesperson confirmed the students and a teacher remained at the Launceston General Hospital in a stable condition.
They were expected to be discharged later tonight.
In a statement, an Education Department spokesperson said the staff member and two students had reported feeling sick and were taken to hospital as a precaution.
"Following reports of the odour, the school enacted their emergency plan in accordance with DoE procedures," they said.
"The odour was restricted to one room and the cause has been determined to be the result of a blown capacitator within a light fitting.
"Further investigations will be undertaken to determine if any further remedial works are necessary.
"The school is supporting all those involved."
