Radford, who is currently the state head coach for Basketball Tasmania, has had a long career as a coach in Tasmanian and Australian basketball - with his last stint in the NBL back in 2013.
The addition of Radford to the JackJumpers' coaching lineup is one head coach Scott Roth said he was "delighted" about.
"Mark is one of Australia's leading coaches and will be an invaluable resource to us as we prepare for our NBL debut in October," Roth said.
"Mark is also one of the most respected coaches in Tasmanian basketball and will help us build a team all Tasmanians can be proud of."
Radford's appointment at the club comes after North-West Thunder's Serj Deans signed the first playing contract with the club in April.
The position was one Radford said he was "thrilled" to be taking, joining the club as its inaugural assistant coach.
"Tasmanian basketball is close to my heart and there's never been a more exciting time for the sport in our state.
"I'm looking forward to the journey ahead with the JackJumpers."
Radford's promotion to the NBL side will mean Basketball Tasmania will be searching for a new state head coach, after Radford's seven year term.
It's unclear if Radford will continue to coach the Burnie Tigers men's team in the NWBU.
