Though they may be called The Buzz Kills, the new music from Launceston's Nathalie Gower and Sam Haberle is anything but a buzz killer.
The dynamic duo have previously released songs such as Liar, and their names were attached to the hit Light a Candle - which debuted at one on the Independent Aria Charts and four on the Aria Australian Charts.
Now Gower and Haberle are back and releasing a new song every six weeks, with 21st Century Mayhem the first in what has become a long list.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Every song has got a story behind it and 21st Century Mayhem that we just released on the April 21, that is obviously quite a lot of heart-felt passion about lockdown and government control and one sided media," Gower said.
"I think 21st Century Mayhem is definitely in the moment and probably talks to a lot of what people feel for sure, but the song gets its inspiration from different things."
Haberle said the song was "an anthem" for coming out of lockdown this year.
The Buzz Kills are releasing each new song fairly quickly, giving fans just enough time to get comfortable before dropping the next.
"I think people want content and they want to hear more stuff more regularly," Gower said.
Haberle agree with her and said the way people listened to music now was different.
"It's rare for people to listen to whole album at once," he said.
"It's a little bit more about individual tracks than it is the album."
What started off as three recorded songs has quickly become more, with the duo planning on recording another three or four.
With the growing list of songs, the potential EP could become an album instead.
The duo's sound is a little heavier and more alternative now than their work at the beginning of their journey.
"The new stuff is more typical Australian alternative, almost elements of old school Silverchair and similar," Haberle said.
"But it still has an element of pop to it."
Gower said The Buzz Kills were now at a point where their sound was unique and identifiable.
For those eagerly awaiting the next song, it is nearly here.
Green Eyes will be released on May 28, and just like all the other songs, it will be available on all normal streaming platforms.
