Meeting North Hobart on Anzac Day, Riley's Blues trailed by 16 points in the second term before heading into half time with a narrow lead.
A remarkable turnaround then saw Launceston slot 13 goals - including six to Riley - to turn the game on its head.
The 28-year-old kicked another three in the last to finish with 10 for the game as Launceston ran out 125-point winners.
The haul bettered an eight-goal game against Kingborough last year as Riley's biggest in the TSL, while his nine-goal second half is the best in TSL history.

"The first half of the game was pretty tough - North Hobart played pretty well in the first half," he said.
"I think we were just a bit more direct with the ball [in the second half], we got it inside 50 a little bit deeper and quicker so that definitely helped me out a fair bit.
"Not every week you kick 10 goals - some days you're lucky to kick one or two.
"It's hard to kick a lot of goals in games, especially the way teams defend now."
The pick of Riley's majors came in the third term as he chased down Demons defender Keegan Ryan, snatched the ball on the goal-line and goaled between his own bent leg while sitting on the ground.
After reaching nine with five minutes to go in the last, Riley's opportunity for 10 came as Brendan Taylor took a strong grab in the forward 50.
The mid-forward unselfishly dished off a routine set shot, allowing Riley to finish in double figures.
"It would have been a bit of reward for the effort he put in as well," Riley said.
"He wasn't going to give it to me, I had to tell him I was on nine goals and then he handballed it off to me.
"Credit to him - I offered to buy him a beer after the game but he said it was all good.
"It was good of him to pass it off."
Riley didn't have the highlight reel all to himself, with 16-year-old debutant Colby McKercher making several of his own submissions.
Having started the year in under-18s before impressing with a bag of four in the development league, the Kings Meadows High student looked at home in seniors and kicked two electric running goals.
"It's really exciting times," Riley said.
"The first half he was probably a little bit reactive to what was happening - trying to get used to the pace of the game.
"But once the game opened up in the second half ... he's quick, he uses the ball well and he's smart.
"He's got a fair bit of talent, he's a ripper."
The unbeaten Blues will meet 1-2 Glenorchy in a 2pm Windsor Park clash on Saturday, while North Launceston will sit out with the bye before hosting Kingborough in round six.
