Lilydale Crochet and Knit have been furiously crocheting and knitting poppies for people to buy and pay their respects with on Anzac Day.
Jana Jovanovic, who initially started the group, said she thought it would be lovely if the group could crochet some poppies to commemorate the day.
"[The poppies are] really important," she said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Even for people who have served and are serving today, it's so appreciated, and we do it as a gesture of support and love to all the people who have sacrificed so much to give us the freedoms that we enjoy and take for granted everyday.
"In our little way ... we just want to show those people who have sacrificed so much how much it means to us."
Ms Jovanovic said she hoped the poppies would bring the value of Anzac Day to younger generations too.
The group of 38 women met on Sunday to finalise everything and distribute the poppies to local businesses.
Ms Jovanovic said the group hope to now continue the poppy making as an annual event.
"Hopefully it will grow every year," she said.
"This year's a bit of a trial run."
The poppies are available to purchase from Lilydale Tavern, IGA, post office, doctor's office, service station, RSL, pharmacy, take away, and Bean and Barrow Cafe in the week leading up to Anzac Day.
The small crochet poppies will be $4, large crochet and knitted will be $6, and the extra large felt-made ones will be $10.
All proceeds will be split between Soldier On and the Lilydale RSL.
Ms Jovanovic has donated all the materials herself and will not be taking a reimbursement from proceeds collected.
The group is also always happy to take on more members.
"I never thought [the group] would grow so much so quickly," Ms Jovanovic said.
"So many women have come out of the woodwork in the community."
Though the group is all women currently, Ms Jovanovic said men were also welcome too.
Age is not a barrier either, as members ages range from in their 20s to in their 70s.
