Australian of the year Grace Tame clocked up 10,000 followers in less than two hours on her new Twitter account @TamePunk.
The Tasmanian woman became the 2021 Australian of the Year and is now a known advocate for survivors of sexual assault, especially that which occurs in institutional settings, and women in general.
In her opening Tweet Ms Tame acknowledged that April 1st was not "the best day of the year to attempt to establish credibility on a media platform".
"Please forgive my delay in joining, I've had a bit on. Big love to you all," she tweeted.
Under the same tamepunk moniker Ms Tame has an Instagram account with 56,000 followers.
More recently she used this account to weigh in on women issues and publicly criticise Prime Minister Scott Morrison for his appointment of Queensland Senator Amanda Stoker as the new Assistant Minister for Women.
"The new Assistant Minister for Women is someone who previously endorsed a "fake rape crisis" tour, aimed at falsifying instances of sexual abuse on school and University campuses across Australia," she displayed on her Instagram account.
"In light of these facts, either the Prime Minister is ignorant of the cultural issue at hand, or he understands them completely and is making calculated moves to perpetuate them."
She also labelled Morrison as dismissive when she spoke to him directly of the need for a permanent Taskforce to tackle systemic issues of sexual abuse.
