The independent Northern brewery is holding its annual hop picking day at its farm at 537 White Hills Road, Evandale on Saturday.

The day has become something of a tradition spanning 10 years and last year a record more than 350 kilograms of hop cones were harvested during the mid-March hop flower bloom.

Owner and brewer Will Tatchell said this year's season appeared to be better again, with consistent warm weather and regular rain.

"It's an unbelievably enjoyable opportunity to learn where beer comes from, where it begins and how we utilise an agricultural product to create such an incredible product in beer," he said.

"We want people to learn, understand and know where their beers come from, and this is a once a year opportunity for beer lovers to experience this hands on approach to brewing."

It will start at 9am, after hop vines are delivered from the field to the brewery lawns. The hops will be used for a beer at the Fresh Hop Festival, with the remainder dried and utilised for the Estate Ale series.
