The visit of Clarence marks both the return of the Women's Super League to Launceston and a meticulously-planned broadening of horizons at Birch Avenue.
Building on the success of Cam Heazlewood's title-winning Northern Championship invincibles, Lynden Prince and Frank Compton have been entrusted with steering United's voyage into statewide waters.
With Prince having won both men's and women's titles at Riverside in recent years, Compton is confident the team will not be out of its depth.
How's the squad?
We're much happier than we were a couple of weeks ago. I feel the fitness is catching up with the technical side and we have no major injuries.
Fielding two teams was always a challenge but we feel we can do that competitively. It's a quite incredible junior base here and a few of those are not far away from senior experience.
Jess Robinson was due to be travelling but is now staying. She's from England, Liverpool I think - she certainly always seems to wear a Liverpool shirt. We're pretty chuffed that she's bought into what we're trying to do and is a real bonus for us. She's a very good player and we see her as a gain because we were planning to lose her. Sydney Carnie has moved from Arizona but her father is from Tasmania.
We're really eager to get started after a long pre-season. We're home first up and it will be a celebration regardless of the result, so let's get into it.
Season aim?
We said at the start we wanted to make top four. A seven-team comp is on the small side but we want to be in that top four.
As long as we are competitive, we'll be happy with that and can build on that next season.
Player to watch?
Gonya Luate is very talented. She's very quiet and shy but comes alive with a ball at her feet and when she realises what she can do will be a real danger to defences.
She's an attacking midfielder and with our system could play anywhere in midfield and behind the strikers.
Top goal-scorer?
Izzy Cootes banged in a hat-trick in our last friendly but with her work commitments may be in and out so probably Dani Gunton who will lead the line and if we get our crosses right she will be on the end of them.
