After a "constructive discussion" with AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan on Thursday night, an independent review of Tasmania's business report will begin immediately.

The results of the review will be provided in mid-2021 - about half a year quicker than originally anticipated - but a final decision on a Tasmanian team will not be made until after the 2021 season.
"[This] will provide us the clarity we need to make arrangements for AFL content in the coming 2022 season," Mr Gutwein said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Whilst the consultant's report will provide clear direction in terms of the strength and sustainability of our business case, given the uncertainty for the current season due to COVID, I have agreed to his request that the club presidents be afforded the opportunity to consider the consultant's review once the season concludes, prior to a final decision being made on our entry to the national competition."
Mr Gutwein will speak to media in Launceston at 11am.
