But for the next generations of car enthusiasts, Holden's will no longer be making that familiar purr heard as a hotted-up Commodore or classy Caprice rolls down Brisbane Street after the pin was pulled on the car manufacturer earlier in 2020.
That's why the Launceston's National Automobile Museum of Tasmania is displaying the synonymous Australian cars as a feature display for the next six months.
Museum manager Phil Costello said the display was the least the museum could do to honour a vehicle that has become part of the fabric of Australia.

"This is our tribute to Holden. The closure is a massive shift in the landscape of Australian motoring," he said.
"It's been a massive part of so many people's lives for so long, and now we've got a generation of people that'll grow up and never really be familiar."
Mr Costello said having a car that was built in Australia meant something more than just an economy boost to many people, and with that now removed having something to remember what it was like was important for the museum.
As part of the display Motors Launceston provided the museum the Holden sign that drew in thousands of the people of Launceston to the dealership who were wanting to snap up their very own piece of Australia history.
Dealer Principal Theo Bakirtzis said being able to offer a slice of Launceston's Holden history to the museum was a no brainer, and he was happy to share his passion.
"It's been a big part of Australia for a very long time," he said.
"There's a piece of that brand in every Australian's heart."
But Mr Bakirtzis said while it was emotional to see his favourite car manufacturer gone, the museum display was an important reminder to sit around and consider the memories having Holden in Australia offered.
"Putting the sign up in the museum was a fitting choice to keep the brand going in a way," he said.
"We can all sit there and cry about the exit, but it also needs to be a celebration.
"There's still a lot of passion, people still love it."
Mr Bakirtzis said having the sign at the museum was a way of transferring a memory that will long live in car lovers' hearts, to a physical placement on the wall.
The museum will be showing a number of different Holden's across the exhibition starting with EH and HR Premier examples, Toranas and the first VE Commodore built by Garry Rogers - a car that finished ninth at Bathurst.
A 1974 Toranda L34 (pictured) will take pride of place for the first part of the exhibition. This car was driven by Peter Brock in it's first start at Bathurst and finished third and second respectively in the same race, this time driven by Colin Bond, in 1975 and 1976.
The museum is open from 9am to 5pm every day, other than Christmas Day and is located at 84 Lindsay Street, Invermay.
