The Parks and Wildlife Service in a June audit of the facility which identified priority actions the company had to undertake before the summer hiking season.
Tasmanian Walking Company managing director Neil Lynch said the new system marked the start of refurbishment over the 32-year-old huts over five-year period.
"The five-year hut refurbishment will be an exciting enhancement to the Overland Track and will feature the latest environmentally sustainable technologies and water management operations," he said.
Mr Lynch said GEO-Environmental Solutions and Environmental Consulting Options Tasmania had assessed the site and confirmed the existing greywater system had not caused any environmental damage.
He said GES said the new system would provide better primary volume and retention time and ECO Tas said the system would ensure more efficient filtration systems.
Mr Lynch said GES would supervise ongoing water monitoring processes.
A Parks and Wildlife Service spokesperson said the company had completed many of the recommendations made to them following the June audit.
"PWS have acknowledged the ongoing completion of a majority of audit findings by TWC and anticipate - weather dependent - TWC will complete the remainder of works next week," they said.
"A follow-up inspection will be arranged."
