Nathaniel Butler said he previously acted in Newstead's Little Shop of Horrors production, and through his performance came to love puppeteering.
"Last year I was pupperteering the Audrey II so that kind of became a bit of an interest, puppetry."
In other news:
Mr Butler now makes puppets and enjoys working within this art form.
The Big Picture School student went on to play Lurch in this year's production of The Addams Family.
"I feel like I learnt there as well. Learning acting kind of makes sense but at the same time I learnt how to sing this year, because I didn't know how to previously but this year I definitely feel like I have learnt to properly," he said.
Teacher and director of the musical Alarna Hingston said Mr Butler has not been the only student to benefit from dual enrolment with Kings Meadows students also given the opportunity to extend their skill set.
"It's kind of just providing them with an opportunity to be involved in something different, that not all schools are able to offer, and create new friendships....and expand skills," she said.
Ms Hingston said this opportunity also allows for the productions to build higher cast numbers.
