Shane Noble alleges TasFoods Limited and directors Sandy Beard, Roger McBain and managing director and chief executive Jane Bennett contravened the Fair Work Act.
He made the allegations in an application to the Fair Work Commission.
"Mr Noble is alleging that he was engaged as an employee of the company in 2018 and adverse action was taken against him by the company and the named directors when they determined that he should cease to be the chair of the company on June 4, 2020," TasFoods told the ASX.
"The company and named directors strenuously deny the claims, and are defending the proceedings."
TasFoods said the claim was for an unspecified amount in compensation plus damages for non-economic loss.
It said Mr Noble had resigned from the board, effective immediately, on the night of July 8.
"TasFoods thanks him for his contribution over the last 2.5 years and, in particular, his role in managing the acquisition of Betta Milk," it said.
Launceston-headquartered TasFoods acquired Burnie-based Betta Milk in July 2019.
The $11.4 million acquisition was funded by cash at hand and an $8 million capital raising.
TasFoods' annual meeting is scheduled for July 23.
It will be held online only because of coronavirus.
