The club was given the green light by City of Launceston Council to resume training at the NTCA Ground complex earlier this week.
However, a post on its Facebook page confirmed it would only compete in Northern Championship men's and women's, plus under-18 competitions.
"We have made the difficult decision to withdraw from the reserves (NC1) competition for this shorter and compressed 2020 season," it said.
Launceston City, Riverside Olympic and reigning champions Launceston United are the other Northern teams in NC1 along with North-West quartet Burnie, Devonport, Ulverstone and Somerset.
Rangers, who finished second in the league last year, stressed that reserves players were still welcome to train and make themselves available for the championship squad.
"You are still very much part of our Rangers family and please come and support us on game days," the post said.
Club training is set to resume on Thursday from 5.30pm.
The under-18s are being coached by Phillip Ragan, the women by Ian Loft and senior men by new coach Fernando Muoz.
Each group will be allocated half a main pitch to work in.
Access to the venue is from Boland Street with the main entry blocked off by the COVID-19 testing station.
