The Launceston Basketball Association is doing everything it can to regain Elphin Sports Centre in time for the lifting of stage two restrictions next month.

The four-court venue has been operating as a drive-through coronavirus testing facility since April and a move-out date has not yet been allocated.
Stage three restrictions are set to begin on July 13, allowing for the return of competitive basketball, however, many are preempting an earlier date following the early move to stage two restrictions.
LBA president Craig Gibson provided an update on the venue's availability via social media.

"Over the last three weeks [LBA general manager Mitch Duhig] has committed significant time to sourcing alternative courts to resume play if this clinic remains in place past July 13," Gibson said.
"Whilst Mitch has been busy completing this, I have been contacting and lobbying numerous government ministers to stress the impact for all LBA members and indeed any sport that has its home within the Elphin complex.
"Although there is no firm commitment, LBA is hopeful we will gain access to Elphin sooner than first thought and we will advise once we get confirmation of this."
