The club will pay attention to governments lifting travel restrictions and sanctioning sport that is played indoors to resume later than outdoors.
Tornadoes general manager Corey Ackerly was cautious about getting the NBL1 side back after months apart.
"It's definitely something we would consider once we get a bit better understanding of what the lay of the land is going to be," he said.
The Tornadoes' campaign was cancelled more than a month ago, but teammates have met up regularly online.
Ackerly was also mindful that some players may have the opportunity to focus on returning to LBA or NWBU competitions and the club would not want to interfere into getting weekly games into their legs for next year.
The motivation to play would not be financial with no running costs this year, but extending an earlier preseason to best prepare for next year would be tempting.

"Once we know what the opportunities are, we definitely will talk to the Chargers and maybe even the Thunder to see if they want to have a weekend in Launceston, Hobart and Devonport to play a few games," Ackerly said.
Their Tasmanian players are certain to play without import signings Keely Froling or Megan McKay as the interstate players could be readying for a WNBL start.
Coach Sarah Veale has warmed to the idea should the coronavirus curve dip.
The original Tornado of the Year, who is yet to take charge of the team, is keen to find any edge months out.
"It's tough to replicate the pressure and learning from games, even being training fit will be an issue unless restrictions are lifted," she said.
"If we are able to have our squad back on court at any point in time through 2020 and can train as a team, playing some games would be a huge benefit to us.
"However, we would need to ensure our group were ready for games at that point in time. We wouldn't want injuries in the lead up to 2021."
