A man and a woman have been charged after a ring worth $7,500 was allegedly stolen from a Launceston jewellery shop on Friday.

The pair targeted the shop in the Quadrant Mall about 10.30am and the man was alleged to have fled on foot.
Police swooped the Launceston CBD in a bid to locate the man and his alleged accomplices.

Three people were arrested at Dilston a short time later.
Police said a 43-year-old Dilston man was charged with robbery and a 46-year-old Dilston woman was charged with unlawful possession.
No charges were laid against a third person police arrested and the person was later released.
The man and woman who were charged were given bail by police.
They are due to appear in court in April.
