A Launceston man accused of assaulting a police officer, stealing a vehicle and various fraud offences will face court on Monday.

The 27-year-old has been charged with a string of offences which were allegedly committed across the North and North West of Tasmania during a two-week period.
The charges include eight counts of stealing, six counts of fraud and various drug and traffic offences.

Police praised members of the public who they said provided information which led to the man's arrest.
The man will appear in Launceston Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon.
