The group received a $20,000 grant from WD Booth Charitable Trust to set up the clinic which founder Rachel Beech said would save the organisation around $50,000 a year.
"At the moment we spend [more than] 100,000 dollars on veterinary service, so having our own desexing unit means we will halve that," she said.
In other news:
She is hopeful the surgery will be operational by the end of March but needs to raise another $20,000 for equipment.
She said having a surgery onsite will allow for more to be treated.

"Having our own [clinic] means we will be able to do it more frequently and in a less stressful environment."
The clinic is registered with the Veterinary Board of Tasmania.
