A man who allegedly stole 40 tobacco pouches from a Woolworths supermarket has appeared in court.

Ricky Damien Brown, of Ravenswood, allegedly stole a cash register and the tobacco from the Newtown Woolworths on November 10.
The 35-year-old is also facing charges in relation to stealing and aggravated burglary of a Newstead property on December 27.

It was alleged he stole jewellery and headphones worth more than $4000 from the property about 5.20pm. The owners returned to the property and witnessed a man, later identified as Mr Brown, with their possessions.
The owners photographed the man leaving the scene.
Mr Brown was released from prison two days before the New Town incident after serving time for similar charges. He was on a two-year good behaviour bond.
He did not enter a plea and was remanded to reappear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on December 30 at 9.45am.
