The train will run from this week until the New Year but is not scheduled to run on Saturdays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Year's Eve.
TasRail's chief executive officer Steven Dietrich said community interest in seeing the Christmas train had been incredibly high.
"We've had phone calls, emails, Facebook messages, you name it - everybody loves the Christmas train," he said.
"This is a fantastic community initiative and the TasRail team appreciates that the Christmas Train brings cheer to people during this very busy time of year."
IN OTHER NEWS:
The exact location of the train will be shared via regular posts on TasRail's Facebook page.
Remember to view the train away from the rail corridor and well clear of the tracks.
