WHERE are you? I have been a Labor voter all my life but voted for you in the last two Senate elections because I believed you were the best chance for all Tasmanians.

It seems now you are aligning yourself more closely to the Liberal government for personal reasons and have forgotten why Tasmanians put you there.
Michael Robinson, Beauty Point.
Gorge Hotel Rejection
WHAT strikes me about the decision to reject the proposal is the extent of non-compliance found by the appeal tribunal.
All but one city councillor voted in favour of the proposal.
Are they so I'll-informed about their planning and building requirements?
Were they just misguided?
Or did they just choose to ignore rules designed to safeguard community interests?
Mitchell Dabelstein, Launceston.
Aged Care Deficiencies
The Royal Commission into Aged Care is unearthing some major deficiencies in the provision of support for people in their twilight years.
A lack of funding appears to be a key factor in cases where residential aged care has been unable to deliver the services required to maintain the dignity of its denizens.
Happily, the Australian government is undertaking a reform of residential aged care funding so that resources are freed up to allow more time to deliver safe and effective care.
The Australian National Aged Care Classification has the potential to ensure that nursing homes are not only resourced with an adequate number of staff, but that these workers receive ongoing education in a field that requires increased professionalism.
The royal commission must also celebrate the many compassionate and sensitive individuals in aged residential facilities who are caught up in a systemic funding system that is broken and yet manage to dispense an invaluable level of care.
Ed Sianski, West Moonah.
Northern Prison Woes
OH MY goodness gracious, seriously, the outcry from Westbury residents about the prison being built two kilometres from their town is ridiculous.
The prisoners have to be put somewhere as Risdon is overcrowded.
I live in Summerhill and if the prison was going to be built in Prospect I would have no problem with it.
Linda Morgan, Summerhill.
Facial Recognition
IN light of photo identification such as drivers licenses already being used without consent for facial recognition software a question must be asked.
What exactly did the likes of Edward Snowden do wrong in exposing government corruption and surveillance on everyone?
This is exactly the Big Brother 1984 world he was trying to prevent.
