The Save Historic Westbury Rally Against the Prison was held on October 26 at 11am, while Ms Archer attended a Youth Art and Photography Exhibition at Royal Hobart Show, held betwen 10.30am until noon.
During Question Time Labor MP Jenna Butler asked Ms Archer why she misled the house for her "Westbury no-show".
While Ms Archer did not attend the rally, two Liberal member representatives were present at the event.
Ms Archer responded that she had commitments in the morning, which included the photography exhibition, and the "special occasion" longstanding family commitment to also attend on Saturday.
She also mentioned the almost three hour time period that it took to drive to Westbury.
"I don't have to describe what the family commitment is. I think it was fairly reasonable that I was not available last weekend," she said.
It is understood that this occasion was the 60th birthday dinner of Elise Archer's husband Dale Archer.
