Following the massive Cressy Community Trout Expo held at the weekend, the Australian Schools Trout Fishing Championships saw hundreds of school children casting their lines at Brumby's Creek.
Coordinator Dennis Betts said it had been a beautiful day with beautiful conditions.
"The kids were all having a great time catching some fish," he said.
"It's a wonderful way to start the last week of the school term. They're all getting in and having a go.
"Everyone's in good spirits, it's a really happy day."
About 20 schools from across the state participated in the competition, with more than 70 teams and hundreds of children ranging from Grade 3 to Grade 12 having a go.

"The ultimate goal would be for every school to catch one fish," Mr Betts said.
Harry Tucker, a Grade 5 pupil from Evandale Primary School, said things had gone well for his team with at least one pupil snagging a fish.
"So we're not going as bad as last year," he said.
"Last year we got nothing, except one person caught dead fish guts."
He said his own fishing had gone OK, but he had gotten a bit tired as the competition was wrapping up.
"I've caught a stick and water, nothing else," he said.
"When we go down to Coles Bay for holidays and long weekends I go fishing out there with my grandfather on his boat, so I've got a bit of experience, but that's out on the ocean."
