But the former Tornadoes star had not forgotten what playing at a parochial Elphin Sports Centre was like.
"I loved being back here, there were heaps of familiar faces in the crowd, which was nice to see," Nicholson said
"It was great to be back in what I call my second home."
So was Derrick Washington, his absence for the clash put down to a virus that the coach could not shake off.
"It did feel a little bit different to playing here," she said.
"I don't know, but I still keep in contact with a lot of the girls and I know how they're going. I'm talking to them all the time and I hope they keep working hard."
The impact was not as great as Friday night's 40-point game over Hobart Huskies.
The visitors never surrendered the lead despite a top 20 points from Sarah O'Neill.
