The Northern Bombers' only two losses this season have come at the hands of Darren Winter's men, with a 16-point loss marking Arion Richter-Salter's 50th game in round five.
That result was followed by a comprehensive eight-goal win over Glenorchy at UTAS Stadium a week later - the same assignment the Bombers face this week.
Whitford was hopeful but not expectant of a similar outcome on Saturday afternoon.

"I'd hope it does [happen again]," he said.
"But if I'm going into the game expecting it to pan out like last time we probably wouldn't be preparing correctly.
"We're a different side six weeks on than when we played Glenorchy last time and they're a different side as well, but we've prepared well."
The Bombers made just one change, with debutant Xavier Todman replacing Jaidyn Harris, while the loss of Jaye Bowden will hurt a Glenorchy side already missing Daniel Joseph, Josh Grant and Zac Webster.
Whitford said the wounded Pies still boasted plenty of firepower.
"Harrison Gunther sets up their defence really well, Rhys Mott is a really good player inside and outside and around the footy," he said.
"Their forwards in [Aiden] Grace and [Callen] Daly are pretty key for them forward of the footy."
