Justice Helen Wood told Gale on Thursday, following sentencing submissions the next day by Greg Richardson, Gale's defence lawyer, she anticipated she would take some time to consider his sentence.
Earlier this month, a jury in the Burnie Supreme found Gale, 53, guilty of the 2016 murder of his West Ulverstone housemate Noel Joseph Ingham, 57.

Mr Ingham's body was found decapitated in bushland near Dulverton in December 2016, however, his head has never been found.
Over the course of an almost a seven-week trial, the jury heard evidence from more than 60 witnesses before taking less than four hours to return the guilty verdict.
Crown prosecutor Jackie Hartnett made sentencing submissions to Justice Wood when the guilty verdict was reached.
Gale remains in custody at Risdon Prison to appear on Friday.
