The 2019 Tasmanian Volunteer Awards, held at Government House in Hobart, saw people across a number of areas acknowledged for their efforts.
As a finalist in the lifetime achievement award category, Beverley Allan was one of those, having delivered meals to those in the Longford area for 48 years now.
Mike Barnes, who has been president of the Longford Meals on Wheels group for about 20, said Ms Allan was there are the start.

"[She] started in 1971 and besides being a volunteer driver she has also been on the committee," Mr Barnes said. "I couldn't have done the job without her actually."
Mr Barnes himself was also recognised in a separate category.
Besides delivering meals, he said the service also provided a personal contact for those who may not otherwise receive any.
